Integrin β-3 (synonymous CD61 ) is a surface protein from the group of integrins .

properties

CD61 is a cell adhesion molecule and has several isoforms , of which A and C are formed in many tissues , e.g. B. A in osteoblasts and C in prostate and testes . CD61 forms integrin α V a heterodimeric receptor for cytotactin , fibronectin , laminin , matrix metalloproteinase-2 , osteopontin , Osteomodulin , prothrombin , thrombospondin , vitronectin , von Willebrand factor , NRG1 , FGF1 , IGF1 , fibrillin-1 and fractalkine (synonymous CX3CL1). It also forms a heterodimeric receptor with integrin alpha-IIb for fibronectin, fibrinogen , plasminogen , prothrombin, thrombospondin and vitronectin. The RGD sequence or HHLGGGAKQAGDV (in the gamma chain of the fibrinogen) is bound. The blood clotting is initiated by the binding of the fibrinogen . It is also involved in angiogenesis , which is why it is being studied for the treatment of tumors . PLA2G2A binds to a different binding site and modulates the affinity for the ligand of the receptor function. CD61 is glycosylated and phosphorylated . CD61 also binds PTK2 , ITGB3BP , TLN1 and CIB1 .

The heterodimer of integrin α-V and β-3 is the cellular receptor for the cytomegalovirus (HHV-5), HHV-8 , the coxsackievirus A9, the hantavirus , the human metapneumovirus , the human parechovirus 1 and the West Nile virus . When infected with HIV , the binding of the Tat protein to the heterodimer α-V / β-3 increases angiogenesis in Kaposi's sarcoma .
