Vitronectin is a glycoprotein from the Hemopexin family.
properties
Vitronectin is a secreted protein and is found in blood plasma , the extracellular matrix and in bones . About a third of the mass comes from glycosylation . Vitronectin binds glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans and binds some integrins . It also promotes cell adhesion . It also inhibits the complement system . Vitronectin binds to PAI-1 . Vitronectin is glycosylated , phosphorylated and sulfated . Vitronectin is divided into three sections: at the N terminus at position 1–39 there is a somatomedin B domain , followed by a hemopexin domain (131–342) and at the C terminus also a hemopexin domain (347–459 ).
