interDaF eV at the Herder Institute of the University of Leipzig is an institute for university and pre-university language courses for German as a foreign language in Leipzig .

history

The language institute was founded in 1992 by Johannes Wenzel, director of the Herder Institute , and Peter Gutjahr-Löser , Chancellor of the University of Leipzig . The institute emerged as a spin-off of the Herder Institute, which prepared foreign students for study at colleges and universities until 1992. On January 1st, 1993 interDaF started teaching. Since then, around 2550 Otto Benecke Foundation scholarship holders have received pre-university training from 1993 to 2001 and 2127 participants from international language courses. Including the summer courses, there were 6065 university participants from 80 countries up to 2001. The institute works as a non-profit association at the Herder Institute at the University of Leipzig.

The association employs teachers who, in addition to a university degree in German studies, have completed additional and minor subjects in German as a foreign language and who often look back on several years of experience abroad. InterDaF has been a registered TestDaF center since December 2005 .
