Omnicom Group, Inc. is a US company based in New York City . The company is listed on the S&P 500 stock index and on the New York Stock Exchange . Omnicom is one of the world's leading companies for corporate communications and public relations , advertising and marketing .

Omnicom was formed in 1986 from the merger of DDB Needham and BBDO . In 1993, Omnicom acquired TBWA Worldwide . Today Omnicom includes a large number of advertising, marketing and communication service providers worldwide.

In 2013 the company announced that it wanted to merge with the French company Publicis . The merger would have created the world's leading advertising, PR and marketing group. However, the project was canceled in May 2014.
