ISC high performance
The ISC High Performance (until 2015 International Supercomputing Conference or ISC) is an annual international scientific conference and exhibition on the topics of supercomputers and high-performance computing in Germany . Traditionally, the first of the two annual updates of the TOP500 supercomputer ranking is published at this conference .
history
The conference was co-founded in 1986 by Hans-Werner Meuer , then director of the computer center and professor of computer science at the University of Mannheim , under the name "Supercomputer Seminar".
In 1993 Meuer started together with Erich Strohmaier (formerly at the University of Mannheim, then at NERSC) and Jack Dongarra ( University of Tennessee and ORNL) the TOP500 , a ranking list of supercomputers, which was initially called "Mannheimer Supercomputer Statistics". The ranking is updated twice a year, with the first update being presented at the ISC in Germany and the second update being presented at the SC Conference in the USA .
From 1986 to 2000 the conference took place in Mannheim , from 2001 to 2005 in the International Convention Center in Heidelberg . From 2006 to 2008 the conferences were held in the International Congress Center in Dresden . The International Supercomputing Conference then moved to the Congress Center Hamburg , where it resided from 2009 to 2012. In 2013 and 2014 it took place in the Congress Center Leipzig . The ISC has been held at Messe Frankfurt since 2015 .
