International tours
After the English player Basil D'Oliveira was not allowed into the country during the Tour of England in South Africa in 1968/69 due to his skin color, the planned tour against South Africa this season was canceled after protests. Instead, five games, declared at the time as tests but subsequently declassified by the International Cricket Council , were played between England and a world team to avoid a summer without international cricket in England.
