International cricket season 2020
The 2020 international cricket season takes place between July 2020 and September 2020. The summer season mainly home games for teams from Europe and Africa are played, which are specified by the ICC Future Tours program 2011-2020. The tests carried out on the international tours formed the basis for the ICC Test Championship . The ODI form the basis for the ICC ODI Championship and the Twenty20 games for the ICC T20I Championship . Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , large parts of the season were canceled and further tours are threatened with cancellation . There are plans for the first tours to be held in England in July.
Cancellations and postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic
Numerous tours have been canceled due to the pandemic. These include the tours of Bangladesh, New Zealand and Pakistan in Ireland, which should take place in May and July respectively. A test series that Australia was supposed to complete in Bangladesh in June was also canceled in April. South Africa had planned a tour in Sri Lanka for June, which was also postponed in April. The tours that are still being planned, the planned appointments have been changed significantly or decisions about how to hold the tour are still pending. On June 2, the English Association announced that the West Indies tour would take place in July with changed dates and venues.
