Pakistan lost its first two batsmen in 16th and 19th overs with Abid Ali and Azhar Ali before Babar Azam and inaugural batsman Shan Masood brought Pakistan to a score of 139/2. Due to rainfalls, only 49 overs could be played on the first day. The second day was dominated by Shan Masood. While Babar Azam was eliminated with 69 runs and apart from Shadab Khan with 45 runs no Pakistani batsman could achieve a double-digit run number, Shan stayed in the game until the 107 over and scored a century of 156 runs. After 109.3 overs, the last wicket fell for Pakistan after 326 runs . The best English bowlers were Stuart Broad with 3 wickets for 54 runs and Jofra Archer with 3 wickets and 59 runs. Pakistan had only moderate success in its second innings as no batsman managed to establish itself. On the morning of the fourth day it was Yasir Shah who, with 33 runs in 24 balls, gave Pakistan another significant increase in the result. After 46.4 overs, the innings ended after 169 runs. The best English bowler was again Stuart Broad with 3 wickets for 37 runs. England had to score 277 runs in their innings to claim victory. When the ball was caught by Root after 42 runs and Ben Stokes and Ollie Pope failed to make a significant contribution, England stood at 117 runs after losing 5 wickets. It was the partnership of Chris Woakes (84 runs) and Jos Butler (75 runs) with 139 runs that brought England close to victory. After Butler retired, Pakistan had hopes to turn the game around, but was unable to implement it. The best Pakistani bowler was once again Yasir Shah with 4 wickets for 99 runs. Pakistan won the coin toss and chose to start as a batting team. Pakistan lost its inaugural batsman Shan Masood early on, but his partner Abid Ali managed to establish himself and scored 60 runs, most of them in a partnership with captain Azhar Ali, who reached 20 runs. The day, which was repeatedly interrupted by rain, ended after 45.4 overs, when Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were on strike at 126/5. On the second day, Azam achieved 47 runs, which was also dominated by rain. Apart from Rizwan no other player could establish himself and when the day ended after 40.2 played overs due to poor lighting conditions, Rizwan stood at 60 runs and Pakistan at 223/9. No game was possible on the third day as drizzle prevented the start and soaked the outfield so that it could no longer dry off. At the last inspection, the game was declared over for the day due to poor lighting conditions. On the fourth day the game could begin, and Rizwan was eliminated after a total of 91.2 overs by the Pakistani team with 72 runs, when Pakistan had reached 236 runs. The best English bowlers of the first inning were Stuart Broad with 4 wickets for 56 runs and James Anderson with 3 wickets for 60 runs. England's answer was interrupted after the loss of Rory Burns in the first over already after 5 overs due to rain. The outfield could not dry off after the rain stopped to allow continued play. On the fifth and last day it should take until the afternoon to play after rainfalls. In the remaining time Zak Crawley reached 53 runs and Dom Sibley 32 runs. The game ended with a draw after 43.1 overs in the English innings when the score was 110/4. The best Pakistani bowler was Mohammad Abbas with 2 wickets for 28 runs. The game sparked discussions about the rules for poor lighting conditions.

England won the coin toss and decided to start as a field team. England had a tough time in their innings. The opening batsman fell quickly and after Oli Pope and Joe Root lost their wickets early, 39 overs were 127/4. It was Zac Crowley, who came into the game as number three, who now dominated the day with Jos Buttler. Crawley had his first test century ever and at the end of the day he was at 171 * and Butler at 87 * runs for a total of 332/4. The second day began with rain interruptions and the batsman initially had difficulty getting into the game. In the afternoon session, Crawley lost his wicket after 267 runs after a ball from Asad Shafiq, who had barely bowled in this innings. This ended the setting for the sixth highest partnership in England (359 runs), the highest for the fifth wicket and Crawley had managed the tenth highest run number in an innings by an Englishman. Later, Butler's ball was caught after 152 runs and Chris Woakes scored 40 more runs. When England declared in the last session of the day, after Stuart Broad also lost his wicket, it was 583/8 after 154.4 overs. The best Pakistani bowlers with two wickets each were Fawad Alam (for 46 runs) m Shaheen Shah Afridi (for 121 runs) and Yasir Shah (for 173 runs). In the remaining 11 overs, James Anderson scored three wickets and Pakistan finished the day at 24/3. On the third day, after an early wicket, there was again rain in the morning session. After lunch, England managed to score another wicket before the established captain Azhar Ali and Mohammad Rizwan were able to achieve a partnership of 138 runs. Rizwan scored 53 runs in this and Ali was able to hold up until the end of the inning even after his elimination. He scored a total of 141 runs while the English field game was marked by many mistakes. The innings ended after 273 runs after 93 overs. The best bowler of the English team was James Anderson with 5 wicket for 56 runs. England demanded the follow-on, but the Pakistani innings could not start due to poor lighting conditions. The fourth day was again marked by bad weather conditions. In the morning 18 overs were possible before the lighting conditions were poor and then there was heavy rain. After lunch the field was so wet that there were further delays. It only continued in the afternoon but England only managed to get two wickets, while Abid Ali scored 42 runs and thus contributed significantly to the 100/2 score at the end of the day. On the last day, the focus was on James Anderson, who still needed a wicket to be the first seam bowler and the fourth bowler to achieve 600 wickets. The day began again with rainfalls and a wet field, so that we could only play after tea. After a total of 61.2 overs, James Anderson won his wicket when he took Azhar Ali out of the game. Barbar Azam was able to achieve 63 runs and the game ended in a draw after 83 overs for Pakistan with a score of 187/4. The best English bowler was James Anderson with 2 wicket for 45 runs.
