controversy
The English player Kevin Pietersen was at the center of numerous controversies during the months leading up to the tour, which meant that he was initially not considered for the tour. With a declaration that he will devote himself entirely to English cricket, he was shortlisted for the third test. However, when it became known the next day that he had exchanged defamatory text messages with South African players about his English teammates, he was expelled from the team.
