controversy
During the tour, after the 3rd ODI in Mumbai, there were anti-Pakistani protests by the regional political party Shiv Sena , during which the local office of the Indian Association was stormed. The aim of the protests was to cancel the planned tour of India against Pakistan later in the year . As a consequence, the Pakistani referee Aleem Dar, who was already on duty in the first three ODIs, left before his assignments in the remaining ODIs. The same applied to former Pakistani players Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar, who were present as media representatives .
