The South African national cricket team's tour to Sri Lanka in the 2006 season took place from July 27 to August 15, 2006. The international cricket tour was part of the 2006 international cricket season and included three tests . Sri Lanka won the Test Series 2–0.

prehistory

Sri Lanka previously played a tour in England , for South Africa it was the first tour of the season. The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 2004 season in Sri Lanka . The tour was to be followed by a three-nation tournament including India , but South Africa left early after a bomb attack in Colombo.
