The tour of the New Zealand national cricket team to Sri Lanka in the 1987 season took place from April 16 to May 10, 1987. The international cricket tour was part of the 1987 international cricket season and included three tests . The series ended in a 0–0 draw.

It was the first tour of the season for both teams. The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 1984/85 season in Sri Lanka .

After a bomb attack by the Tamil LTTE on April 21 as part of the Sri Lankan civil war on the Central Bus Station in Colombo in which more than 100 people died, the tour was canceled before the second test.
