New Zealand national cricket team in Pakistan in the 2002 season
The tour of New Zealand Cricket Team for Pakistan in the 2002 season took place from April 21 to May 8 of 2002. The international cricket tour was part of the 2002 international cricket season and included two test matches and three ODIs . Pakistan won the test series 1-0 and the ODI series 3-0.
prehistory
It was the first tour of the season for both teams. The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 2000/01 season in New Zealand . The tour was originally planned for September and October 2001, but after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in the USA , the New Zealand team stopped the journey while they were in Singapore. Initially, only the ODIs were canceled and the tests, which took place in October, were to take place, even if the stadium selection was changed due to the anticipated attacks by the USA in Afghanistan. Two weeks after the attacks, the tour was postponed to April 2002. The final termination took place in February 2002.

Game canceled |
The game was canceled because a bomb exploded near the two teams' hotel two hours before the game was scheduled to start. The New Zealand team then flew out of Pakistan as quickly as possible. For New Zealand it was the third cancellation of a tour in South Asia due to a bomb attack after tours in Sri Lanka had to be canceled in the 1986/87 and 1992/93 seasons .
