The international cricket tour is part of the 2019/20 international cricket season and includes two tests , an ODI and three Twenty20s . The test series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2019-2021 . Pakistan won the Twenty20 series 2-0.
prehistory
Australia previously played a tour in Australia , Bangladesh a tour in India . The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 2014/15 season in Bangladesh .
It is the first time since 2008 that the Bangladeshi national team has traveled to Pakistan. Previously, Bangladesh had refused this several times for security reasons. This time, too, Bangladesh left it open for a long time whether they would travel to Pakistan. In December they announced that the Bangladeshi government would have to give its consent to the security situation. As a consequence, they demanded that the Twenty20 series could take place in Pakistan, but that the test series should take place in a neutral location. This was rejected in the strictest tone by the Pakistani association. Since the Bangladeshi reasoning included that the team should not be allowed to stay in Pakistan for long periods of time, Pakistan proposed at the beginning of January that only the two tests be held at the end of the month. An agreement was reached on January 14th, which provided for a tripartite tour. In this case, the Bangladeshi team will spend no more than seven days in Pakistan in each of these sections and will be flown in directly from Bangladesh to the venues, which consist of only one location in each section.
