The international cricket tour was part of the 1978/79 international cricket season and included three tests and three ODIs . Pakistan won the Test Series 2–0 and the ODI Series 2–1.

It was the first tour of the season for both teams. The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 1960/61 season in India .
