The tour of the Indian national cricket team to Sri Lanka in the 2006 season took place from August 18-22, 2006. The international cricket tour was part of the 2006 international cricket season and included three ODIs . The series ended in a 0–0 draw.

prehistory

Sri Lanka previously played a tour against South Africa and India in the West Indies . The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 2005/06 season in India . This tour was originally planned as a three-nation tournament together with South Africa . However, after a bomb attack in Colombo, South Africa withdrew for security reasons.

All three games were canceled due to heavy rainfall. While attempts were still made to play the game in the first two games, and in the case of the first ODI, 22 balls were also played, the preparation of the third ODI was canceled and the tour was postponed.
