South African national cricket team in Sri Lanka in the 1993 season

The tour of the South African national cricket team to Sri Lanka in the 1993 season took place from August 22 to September 19, 1993. The international cricket tour was part of the 1993 international cricket season and included three test matches and three ODIs . South Africa won the Test series 1–0, while the ODI series ended in a draw 1–1.

prehistory

Both teams previously met at the Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand . For South Africa it was the first tour of the season and also after its resumption after the end of their apartheid- related ban on gambling. Sri Lanka played a home tour series against India prior to this tour . However, this is the very first meeting of the two teams on a tour.
