The tour of the Bangladeshi national cricket team to Sri Lanka in the 1997 season took place from August 2 to 24, 1997. The international cricket tour was part of the 1997 international cricket season and included two tests and three ODIs . Sri Lanka won the Test Series 2–0 and the ODI Series 3–0.

Both teams previously played at the 1997 Asia Cup . The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 1993/94 season in India .

Indian bowler Nilesh Kulkarni was the 12th bowler to score a wicket with his first test ball . The Sri Lankan batsmen Sanath Jayasuriya and Roshan Mahanama were the first partnership that did not have to accept a wicket for two days. The Sri Lankan innings was the highest Test innings ever achieved.
