Indian national cricket team in the West Indies in the 2016 season

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Indian national cricket team's tour to the West Indies in the 2016 season took place from July 21 to August 28, 2016. The international cricket tour was part of the 2016 International Cricket Season and included four Tests and two Twenty20s . India won the Test series 2-0 while the West Indies won the Twenty20 series 1-0.

prehistory

The West Indies previously played a three-nation tournament , while India did a tour in Zimbabwe . The last meeting on a tour of the two teams took place in India in the 2014/15 season .

In July, talks between the two associations became known in addition to the planned test series to be held in the USA up to three Twenty20. Instead of the usual American association USA Cricket Association , the world association ICC had to give its approval, as it had suspended the national association in 2015. The biggest obstacle was getting US visas for the teams in good time, as Indian citizens in particular need up to six weeks for the process. On August 2, 2016, the scheduling of two Twenty20 games was confirmed and declared that the West Indies would be interested in an annual event in Lauderhill.

The outside field was badly affected by the rain in the days before the test and so playing on the field was only possible in the first session on the first day. Further play was not possible in the following days despite the good weather, so it was the third-shortest test that was not canceled.

After a short rain shower the outfield opinion was Umpires too wet to be able to continue playing, and thus broke the game from. The West Indian captain Carlos Brathwaite later declared this assessment to be correct, while the Indian captain MS Dhoni disagreed with it.
