New Zealand national cricket team in the West Indies for the 2014 season
The New Zealand national cricket team's tour of the West Indies for the 2014 season took place from June 8th to July 6th, 2014. As an international cricket tour , it was part of the 2014 international cricket season . It included three test matches and two Twenty20s . New Zealand won the Test series 2-1, while the Twenty20 series ended 1-1. The tests carried out on the tours were games as part of the ICC Test Championship , the ODI part of the ICC ODI Championship and the Twenty20 games part of the ICC T20I Championship . It was the first time in 12 years that New Zealand won an away test series against a team from the top 8 of the ICC Test world rankings and only the second win in the West Indies.
prehistory
Heading
The test series overlapped with the final phase of the Indian Premier League in 2014 . Since the Kolkata Knight Riders reached the final, the West Indian bowler Sunil Narine was not available to his national team for the test series. The third test was originally planned in Guyana . However, since the local government took over the local cricket association directly, the West Indian association decided to hold the third test in Barbados . The previous winter, both teams met for a full series in New Zealand . There New Zealand won the Test and Twenty20 series, while the ODI series ended in a draw.
