New Zealand national cricket team in England for the 2013 season

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The New Zealand national cricket team tour to England for the 2013 season took place from May 4th to June 27th, 2013. The international cricket tour was part of the 2013 international cricket season and included two test matches , three ODIs and two Twenty20s . England won the Test series 2-0, while New Zealand won the ODI series 2-1 and the Twenty20 series 1-0. The tests carried out on the tours were games as part of the ICC Test Championship , the ODIs part of the ICC ODI Championship and the Twenty20s part of the ICC T20I Championship .

prehistory

Heading

The tour was characterized by the fact that external tournaments had an increased influence on it. First of all, the Indian Premier League 2013 was to be considered at the beginning of the tour, as some New Zealand players could earn significantly more there than when playing for the New Zealand Association. However, the New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum decided to travel to England early on. The 2013 ICC Champions Trophy took place between the ODI series, which both teams used as preparation, and the Twenty20 series . At this tournament, New Zealand was eliminated in the preliminary round, while England made it to the final and lost to India . England had already completed a full tour in New Zealand in February and March of that year , with England winning the Limited Overs series and only a draw in the test series. Following this tour, England played the 2013 Ashes Tour against Australia .
