Ashes Tour 2013

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ashes Tour 2013 was the tour of the Australian national cricket team that included the 67th edition of the Ashes and was held between July 10 and August 25, 2013. The Ashes Series 2013 itself was held in the form of five friendly matches between England and Australia. The venues were both English stadiums. In addition to the test series, the tour included a number of other games between the two teams in the summer of 2013 . The test series was won 3-0 by England, the ODI series won 2-1 by Australia and the Twenty20 series ended in a draw.

prehistory

Scheduling and stage selection

In January 2011 it was decided that two Ashes Series would be held in 2013 to avoid conflicts with the 2015 Cricket World Cup in Australia. The stadiums were announced in September 2011, with the established Edgbaston in particular failing to do so. The final termination took place in June 2012.

spring

Both Australia and England did one tour each spring. Australia played four Tests in India in February and March , all of which were lost to the hosts . In addition to tests, England played ODIs and Twenty20 games at home against New Zealand . England won the two test matches, but lost the ODI series 1: 2.

Champions Trophy

The ICC Champions Trophy took place in England and Wales in June . Australia lost to England and Sri Lanka in the preliminary round and were eliminated from the bottom of the group. England finished first in the same group and qualified for the final after beating South Africa in the semi- finals. There the team lost against India with 5 runs.
