English national cricket team in Bangladesh in the 2016/17 season

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The English national cricket team's tour to Bangladesh in the 2016/17 season took place from October 7th to November 1st, 2016. The international cricket tour was part of the 2016/17 international cricket season and included two tests and three ODIs . England won the ODI series 2–1, while the test series 1–1 ended in a draw.

prehistory

It is the first tour of the season for both teams. The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in England in the 2010 season . After a terrorist attack in Dhaka in July 2016 , the Tour of England was called into question. Bangladesh tried to allay concerns and refused to move the tour to a neutral venue. Australia had refused to hold a tour in Bangladesh the year before and also refused to let its U19 team travel to the U19 World Cup in Bangladesh at the beginning of the year. On August 25, 2016, the English association ECB decided that the tour should take place in Bangladesh, but the players were free to choose whether they want to take part in it or not. The English one-day captain Eoin Morgan and the inaugural batsman Alex Hales made use of this right . The main English fan association, the Barmy Army , also stated that it will not organize trips to Bangladesh for security reasons.
