Ashes Tour 2006/07
The Ashes Tour 2006/07 was the tour of the English national cricket team in Australia which included the 64th edition of the Ashes and was held between November 23, 2006 and January 9, 2007. The Ashes Series 2006/07 itself was played in the form of five test matches between England and Australia. The tour, which was part of the international cricket season 2006/07 , included a series of other games between the two teams in addition to the test series. The test series was won by Australia with 5–0 and the Twenty20 with 1–0.
prehistory
Both teams previously played in the ICC Champions Trophy 2006 , in which Australia finished second and England were eliminated in the preliminary round. The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place at the Ashes Tour 2005 in England. There the English team managed to win the Ashes for the first time in 18 years. Before the event, there were numerous discussions about the allocation of tickets for the five tests. The Australian Association tried to limit the number of tickets that went to English fans and enforced a preferential right for Australian fans. However, this approach favored the fact that tickets were resold at increased prices via Internet platforms, to which the association responded with numerous ticket cancellations.
