The tour of the English national cricket team to India in the 1976/77 season took place from December 17, 1976 to February 16, 1977. The international cricket tour was part of the 1976/77 international cricket season and comprised five tests . England won the Test Series 3–1.

prehistory

India previously played a tour against New Zealand , for England it was the first tour of the season. The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 1974 season in England .
