Australian national cricket team in India for the 2008-09 season

The Australian national cricket team's tour to India in the 2008-09 season took place from October 9th to November 10th, 2008. The international cricket tour was part of the 2008/09 international cricket season and included four test matches . India won the series 2-0.

classification

It was the first tour of the season for both teams. The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 2007/08 season in Australia .

Uncertainty of the event

After numerous bomb attacks in the region, which among other things led to the cancellation of the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan , there were also security concerns on this tour. A possible rescheduling of the third test was considered for a long time after several incidents there. The attacks in Mumbai occurred about two weeks after the tour .

After Indian player Gautam Gambhir had an argument with Australian Shane Watson , Watson was fined and Gambhir suspended from one game. After the game, Indian captain Anil Kumble announced his retirement from international cricket.
