Zimbabwe previously played a tour against Sri Lanka , for Australia it was the first tour of the season. The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 2003/04 season in Australia . After Australia refused to tour Zimbabwe in April 2002 following the re-election of Robert Mugabe , an investigation led to Australia making the trip this time. Australian player Stuart MacGill declared that he was not available for the tour due to moral reasons. However, other players who also considered this step started the tour.
