Sri Lankan national cricket team in Zimbabwe in the 2004 season
The Sri Lankan national cricket team tour to Zimbabwe in the 2004 season took place from April 20 to May 17, 2004. The international cricket tour was part of the 2004 international cricket season and included two tests and five ODIs . Sri Lanka won the Test Series 2–0 and the ODI Series 5–0.
prehistory
It was the first tour of the season for both teams. The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 1999/2000 season in Zimbabwe . Several Zimbabwean players have been suspended after opposing the removal of captain Heath Streak and conditions in the association. Marvan Atapattu took over the role of Sri Lankan test captain after Hashan Tillakaratne resigned.

The technique of the Sri Lankan bowler Muttiah Muralitharan caused a stir after a technique called Doosra was classified as illegal by the world association. As a result, the Zimbabwean player Dion Ebrahim was banned from playing a game after he disrespectfully commented on Muralitharan's technique. The Australian Prime Minister John Howard also commented on this, which meant that Muralitharan did not travel to Australia for the following tour .
