The tour of the Sri Lankan national cricket team to New Zealand in the 1982/83 season took place from March 2 to March 15, 1983. The international cricket tour was part of the 1982/83 international cricket season and included two tests and three ODIs . New Zealand won the Test Series 2-0 and the ODI Series 3-0.

prehistory

New Zealand previously played a tour against England , Sri Lanka a tour in India . It was the first time the two teams had met on a tour since Sri Lanka became a full member of the International Cricket Council . Previous meetings took place on New Zealand's travels to or from England, for example on the 1927 tour .
