Asia Cup 2004

The Asia Cup 2004 was the 8th edition of the cricket competition for Asian national teams, which is held in ODI format . In the final, Sri Lanka was able to prevail against India with 25 runs.

The participants were host Sri Lanka, the remaining three nations with test status , as well as Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.

format

In a group phase, the teams were divided into two groups of three teams each. Within the groups, each team played against each other. The winner of a game got 2 points, for a tie or no result there is 1 point. The first two of the group then play the Super 4 in one group. Again, each team played against each other. The two group winners of the preliminary round received two bonus points. The first two of the group qualified for the final and played the tournament winner there.
