The tour of the Australian national cricket team to South Africa in the 1999/2000 season took place from April 12 to 16, 2000. The international cricket tour was part of the 1999/2000 international cricket season and included three ODIs . South Africa won the series 2–1.

prehistory

South Africa previously played a tournament in the United Arab Emirates , Australia a tour in New Zealand . The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 1997/98 season in Australia . The day before the tour it was announced that the intended South African captain Hansie Cronje was initially suspended from the South African Association and later released later that day. The background was the betting fraud scandal that became known in India during the previous tour of South Africa .
