Afghan national cricket team in Scotland and Ireland in the 2016 season
The Afghan national cricket team's tour to Scotland and Ireland in the 2016 season took place from July 4th to 19th, 2016. The international cricket tour was part of the 2016 International Cricket Season and included two ODIs against Scotland and five ODIs against Ireland. Afghanistan won the series against Scotland 1–0, while the series against Ireland ended with 2–2.
prehistory
The aim of the tour was to give the teams involved match practice. While Scotland plays in the ICC World Cricket League Championship 2015–17 , Afghanistan and Ireland complete ODIs against full members of the International Cricket Council , if they agree. Ireland previously played an ODI series against Sri Lanka , for the other two teams it was the first tour of the season. On the tour, Afghanistan will then travel to the Netherlands , where a game of the ICC Intercontinental Cup 2015-2017 will be played.
