ICC Intercontinental Cup 2015-2017
The ICC Intercontinental Cup 2015-17 was the seventh edition of the ICC Intercontinental Cup , the international first-class cricket competition for national teams that do not have test match status and was held between May 10, 2015 and December 2, 2017. The competition was won by Afghanistan .
mode
The games took place between May 2015 and December 2017. In contrast to the previous edition, there are two new teams. The team from Papua New Guinea is taking part for the first time . Hong Kong is participating for the first time since 2005 . The winning team has been promised by the ICC that they will play a test series of four games against the worst-placed test team in 2018. Should the associate be victorious, that team would be given test status. As in the previous edition, two One-Day International will be held parallel to the games over four days , with the teams from Ireland and Afghanistan being replaced by Kenya and Nepal . These are games of the ICC World Cricket League Championship 2015-17 and part of the qualification for the Cricket World Cup 2019 .
Preparations
Due to the lack of experience of the teams from Hong Kong and Papua New Guinea, it was possible for these two teams to compete against each other in a tour on neutral territory. This was held in November 2014 with one first class and two ODIs in Australia.
