South African national cricket team in Sri Lanka in the 2014 season

The tour of the South African national cricket team to Sri Lanka in the 2014 season took place from July 3 to 28, 2014. The international cricket tour was part of the 2014 international cricket season . It comprised three ODIs and two test matches . South Africa won the ODI series 2-1 and the test series 1-0. The tests carried out on the tours were games as part of the ICC Test Championship and the ODI part of the ICC ODI Championship . It was South Africa's first test matches in Sri Lanka since 2006 . With the draw in the second test, South Africa was again leading the test world rankings.

Heading

The test series was originally planned the year before as part of the tour at that time, but was postponed at that time. A test was deleted to enable an ODI series. It was the first tour in which the new South African captain Hashim Amla led the team.

In order to save costs, the teams had agreed not to use a floodlight system for this game. As the light deteriorated in the second innings , Sri Lanka came under pressure from a possible negative Duckworth-Lewis result and so quickly lost a few wickets. Floodlights were re-approved for the remaining games.
