West Indies cricket team against Pakistan in the 2001/02 season
The tour of the West Indies cricket team against Pakistan in the 2001/02 season took place from January 31 to February 17, 2002 in the United Arab Emirates . The international cricket tour was part of the 2001/02 international cricket season and included two test matches and three ODIs . Pakistan won the test series 2-0 and the ODI series 2-1.
prehistory
Pakistan previously played a tour in Bangladesh and the West Indies a three-nation tournament . The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 2000 season in the West Indies . After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in the USA and the subsequent intervention by the USA in Afghanistan , the planned tour in Pakistan was discussed for a long time. It wasn't until the beginning of the year, a month before the tour started, that the West Indies decided not to travel to Pakistan. Shortly thereafter, Sharjah was set as an alternate location and the first test series was ever held at a neutral location.
