Sharjah Cup 2001/02

The 2001/02 Sharjah Cup was a three-nation tournament that was held from April 8 to 17, 2002 in the United Arab Emirates in one-day cricket . In which the international cricket season 2001/02 belonging tournament took teams from New Zealand , Pakistan and Sri Lanka in part. In the final, Pakistan beat Sri Lanka with 217 runs.

prehistory

New Zealand previously played a tour against England , Pakistan a tour against the West Indies and Sri Lanka a tour against Zimbabwe . Originally, it was considered to expand the tournament to include the South Africa , but this was not carried out due to scheduling reasons.

format

In a preliminary round, each team played against each other once. There were four points for a win, two points for a draw or no result. Bonus points were also awarded. The first two of the group qualified for the final and played for the tournament victory.
