Shoaib Akhtar (nickname: "Rawalpindi Express") (born August 13, 1975 in Rawalpindi , Punjab ) is a Pakistani cricketer . He is known as a bowler for his exceptional throwing speed. In 2006 he made an entry in the Guinness Book of Records with a throwing speed of 160.1 km / h .

Career

Shoaib Akhtar has played a total of 46 test matches for Pakistan so far . He made his test debut in November 1997 against the West Indies in his hometown of Rawalpindi. His last appearance in a test was in December 2007 against India in Bangalore. Akhtar was also used in 163 one-day international matches and took part in three cricket world championships (1999, 2003 and 2011). He was originally also in the squad for the 2007 World Cup, but was eliminated shortly before the tournament due to an injury.

Quarrels and scandals

However, due to his lifestyle, he has seen many ups and downs over the course of his career. During the ICC Champions Trophy 2006 he was banned for a year with his playmate Mohammed Asif because of a doping case. During a preparatory tournament for the ICC Twenty20 World Championship, Akhtar and his teammate Mohammad Asif had a heated argument in the dressing room before the match against Scotland. Akhtar was suspended and banned from his association for five years. However, the suspension was later reduced to 18 months and ultimately lifted when Akhtar appealed the verdict to a court.
