PSO Tri-Nation Tournament 2002

The PSO Tri-Nation Tournament 2002 was a three-nation tournament that was held from August 29 to September 7, 2002 in Kenya in one-day cricket . In addition to the hosts, teams from Australia and Pakistan took part in the tournament, which was part of the 2002 international cricket season . The final between Australia and Pakistan had to be canceled due to rain, which means that the two finalists shared the tournament win.

prehistory

Australia previously played a tour against Pakistan , Pakistan a three-nation tournament in Morocco . For Kenya it was the first competition of the season. A test series in Pakistan was originally planned for Australia and Pakistan, but Australia withdrew from this for security reasons. This tournament was then played as a substitute.

format

In a preliminary round, each team played twice against each other. There were four points for a win, two points for a draw or no result. Bonus points were also awarded. The first two of the group qualified for the final and played for the tournament victory.
