He won 10 man-of-the-match trophies in 2011 and was only the third cricketer to score 1000 runs and get 30 wickets in the calendar year. With Nasir Jamshed, Hafeez set the record for the highest opening partnership against Bangladesh at the 2012 Asia Cup . Both batsman scored a total of 224 runs. They topped the record of Saeed Anwar and Aamer Sohail , who together scored 144 runs. Mohammad Hafeez was elected captain of the Twenty20 team in 2012.
