Intrexx is an integrated, platform-independent development environment (German / English) for the quick and easy creation and management of e.g. B. multilingual web applications , intranets , social intranets , enterprise or customer portals ( extranets ) and, from 2018, complete Industry 4.0 solutions. The applications are created using the drag-and-drop principle and only requires little programming knowledge. The creation of mobile applications for iPhone , Blackberry , Android Smartphones and Co. is also possible with Intrexx with a click of the mouse.

history

The first version of the software was published in 1999 by the German software manufacturer United Planet GmbH under the name "Intrazone". In 2000 the software was renamed "Intrexx Xtreme". In the course of the release of Intrexx 5.0 in March 2010, the product line is divided into the Intrexx Professional and Intrexx Compact editions . Intrexx Professional is the continuation of the Xtreme series and is still aimed at medium-sized companies and public administration. Intrexx Compact comprises a complete company portal with over 50 ready-made web applications and templates and is specially geared towards the target group of smaller companies with up to 10 PC workstations. According to the manufacturer, over 5,000 Intrexx portals have now been implemented (as of 2019). From 2012 to 2014 United Planet and Intrexx were listed by the US IT consultancy Gartner Inc. in the renowned market survey "Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portals". This was followed by several awards such as B. five-time "Social Business Leader" (ISG Provider Lens; inter alia 2018), "Digital Workspace Leader" (ISG Provider Lens; 2017) and PC magazine "SEHR GUT" (01/2019).

Today Intrexx is a low-code development platform for complete digital workplace solutions and the complete digitization of companies.

  • Intrexx 2.0 (2004): Expansion of the possibility of integrating external data
  • Intrexx 3.0 (2006): Integration of a so-called "process manager", which enables companies to graphically map business processes, link them with one another and automate them

  • Intrexx Share (2013):
    • Intrexx Share expands Intrexx with a new type of social business solution that makes communication technologies known from social networks ( Facebook , Twitter, etc.) usable for use in companies.
    • Intrexx Share differs from other social business solutions in that not only the employees of a company are involved in the exchange of knowledge, but also the software solutions used in the company (e.g. intranet , CRM , ERP , BI , Exchange, etc.).
    • If data is recorded or changed in the Intrexx Share work surface, it is written back to the relevant specialist application in real time. This makes it possible for employees to react directly from Intrexx Share to news feeds that are created by the individual specialist applications.
    • The exchange of data and documents is more secure with Intrexx Share than with many other social business solutions, which often come from the USA, because the data is on the protected company server and not in the cloud.
  • Intrexx 7.0 (2014):
    • Improvement of the integrability of Intrexx through the OData adapter and M-Files adapter
    • The Intrexx formula editor enables calculation forms to be created in the portal manager for the first time.
    • Introduction of a new calendar and resource control
    • User-friendly file handling with multiple uploads
  • Intrexx 8.0 (2016):
    • It is now possible to create pages and applications in responsive design .
    • Instead of the previously used Apache Lucene , Apache Solr is now used as the search engine in the context of the portal process.
    • The search functions have been expanded with new filter options and the option of a multilingual search.
    • Language constants and a translation aid should simplify the creation of multilingual portals and applications.
    • The design of applications in the application designer is now supported by templates and guidelines. This is to increase the speed of application creation.
  • Intrexx March 18 (2018)
    • Change of version names
    • Connector for Microsoft Office 365: Office 365 documents can be opened and saved directly from Intrexx.
    • Intrexx Mobile App: Any number of Intrexx portals can be stored and access to all relevant information - including push notifications.

    • Internationalization: Country-specific languages ​​in the portals for cross-border use.
    • Higher security: Script methods check the password entries for compliance with the corresponding password guidelines.
    • Support of 'Divers' as gender: The user administration allows the entry of 'Divers' as another gender.
    • Intrexx Cluster Support in Setup: As of Intrexx 19.09, the setup supports adding the portal server as an instance of an Intrexx cluster.
    • Responsive image view control: The image view control scales images and photos according to the current layout. The image view is thus appropriate to the end device.

Intrexx essentially consists of two parts:

Intrexx Portal Manager

The Portal Manager is installed on any client or on the server and has all the components needed to develop and manage layout, menu or applications. The user with the rights to the respective applications of a portal is also set up in the Intrexx Portal Manager.

Intrexx Portal Server

The portal server is installed on a server and controls all transactions of the web applications and portals . It monitors the rights of the users within the transaction processes, controls the entire business logic and regulates the access to the data sources.

Functions

Intrexx offers the possibility to create and manage multilingual web applications , intranets , social intranets (enterprise social network), enterprise or customer portals ( extranets ) and, from 2018, complete Industry 4.0 solutions. The software sees itself as an alternative to Microsoft SharePoint . The design and usability of the portal are essentially ensured by the integrated portal designer, which enables it to be adapted to the company's corporate identity using CSS and XML via XSL transformations . Single sign-on ensures secure authentication and role-based authorization. Synchronization with existing LDAP servers is possible.

Intrexx is based 100% on Java and contains the following modules:

Designer

With the designer, companies can design their portal according to their own corporate identity : colors, fonts, symbols, buttons or menu structures can be selected from lists with a click of the mouse, as can a large number of ready-made design templates.

Applications

With the application designer, applications and forms can be created without programming knowledge. With the help of an assistant, users can select their desired input and output controls as well as the required buttons and create applications - for desktop PCs, laptops and smartphones.

Processes

Via the graphic interface of the process designer, operational processes can be transferred to electronic workflows and automated using drag-and-drop . The user can define conditions and actions.

user

The user administration defines who can access which applications and functions. The access rights can be made dependent on the function of the employee or certain employees can be combined into an authorization group.

integration

With Intrexx, almost all databases in the company can be read and written directly. Likewise, let ERP systems such as SAP connect with reading and / or writing scenarios.

Tools

Intrexx has various tools that support the administrator in his work. A system monitor shows, for example, the current load, the activities in the portal , the status of the memory usage and the connections to the database . The task planning provides an overview of all ongoing processes.

Interfaces

Specially developed business integration adapters allow the connection of third-party systems such as IBM Lotus Notes , Microsoft Exchange (2003/2007/2010), ABACUS , SAP ( Business Suite , Business One , SAP Gateway), JDBC data sources and all OData data sources . Documents can be organized directly in the company portal using an adapter for Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) . The interfaces to Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Exchange allow the integration of data from Microsoft SharePoint lists and document libraries in Intrexx applications and processes or access to appointments, contacts, tasks and e-mails from Outlook.

The connectors to ABACUS Business Software, M-Files, dg hyparchive and IBM Lotus Notes allow the storage and archiving of data in the respective system and the integration of processes in Intrexx applications.

Finished portals

Various ready-made portals were created on the basis of Intrexx for specific industries and topics . Currently these are a clinic portal, a school portal, a quality management portal, a portal for day-care centers and an Industry 4.0 solution.

Finished applications

Similar to Apple, the manufacturer United Planet provides ready- made company applications , forms, processes and layout templates in a so-called Intrexx Application Store .
