Iomeprol is an X-ray contrast agent from the group of organic iodine compounds that is excreted unmetabolized from the human body a few hours after intravenous or oral administration.
Iomeprol in the environment
Because iomeprol is not metabolized in the body, it gets into the environment via sewage and sewage treatment plants , where it can accumulate due to its poor biodegradability. The degradability by ozonation was investigated.
