Ion-Ilarion Isăilă

Ion-Ilarion Isăilă (* 1953 in Sibiu ) is a Romanian painter who lives in Germany and France .

Life

Since 1961 he took drawing and painting lessons at the city school for music and fine arts. Later he attended high school with a focus on music and fine arts in Sibiu . In 1972 he passed the Abitur. He then did two years of military service in the Romanian People's Army. 1974 to 1975 he completed an internship as a church painter ( al-fresco wall painting). Then Isăilă began studying at the National University of the Arts in Bucharest in the class of wall painting and restoration of Ion Stendl .

Since 1975 he has participated in exhibitions of the artists' association and in international exhibitions. In 1978 he went on a study trip to Moscow and Central Asia and had his first encounter with Islamic art . In 1979 he passed his diploma in wall painting and restoration. After graduating, he worked as a restorer and specialist for museums and exhibitions. In 1983 he received a post-graduate scholarship from the DAAD for the Düsseldorf Art Academy . From 1984 to 1990 he studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, first with Rolf Sackenheim , then with AR Penck and David Rabinowitch . In 1985 he became a master class student and won the Samuel Hoffmann Foundation Prize. He had encounters with Gerhard Hoehme , Dieter Krieg , Gerhard Richter and Günther Uecker , who were teaching at the art academy at the time.

Since 1985 he has had several solo and group exhibitions in private and public galleries. He is represented with drawings and paintings in museums in Aachen, Bucharest, Düsseldorf, Chemnitz, Herne and Nuremberg. His exhibition projects are Facetten, Orient Express, Carmelites Chains, Toussaint, Zeittunnel and others

He currently lives and works as an artist in Düsseldorf and Bélesta (southern France).
