Ipomoea clavata is a plant type from the genus of Morningglory ( Ipomoea ) from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae).

description

Ipomoea clavata is a morning glory with milky sap- bearing stems which, like the leaf stalks, are tomentose with long, protruding trichomes . The leaf blades of the leaves are hairless, almost fleshy, strongly heart-shaped at the base, pointed towards the front, with entire margins or indistinctly angled. They reach a length of 8 to 10 cm.

The inflorescence stalks reach a length of barely 6 mm, the flower stalks are about 2 cm long. The sepals are membranous, hairless, almost the same length, 2 cm in length, elongated and blunt, the outer ones can also be somewhat pointed. The crown is colored blue, purple or white and funnel-shaped. The ovary is zweikammerig, in each chamber are two ovules .

distribution

The distribution area extends from southern Mexico to northern Bolivia. The species is common in Peru and Ecuador .

Systematics

Within the genus of morning glory ( Ipomoea ), the species is classified in the series Mirandinae of the section Eriospermum in the subgenus of the same name Eriospermum .
