Simon Jan van Ooststroom
Simon Jan van Ooststroom (born January 2, 1906 in Rotterdam , Netherlands , † September 28, 1982 in Oegstgeest ) was a Dutch botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ Ooststr. "; earlier the abbreviation " Ooststoom " was also in use.
Life
From 1927 to 1934 Oostroom was a research assistant at the Botanical Museum and the Herbarium in Utrecht; from Utrecht University received his doctorate in 1934 . As a result, he was initially a staff member and later a curator of the Dutch Rijksherbarium in Leiden . He retired in February 1971.
He collected a variety of plants during several trips through Europe. Oostroom was the author of several taxonomic publications, mainly wind plants (Convolvulaceae), and was from 1948 to 1975 co-editor of Flora Neerlandica .
