Ipomoea mauritiana , German and Haiti Prunkwinde called is a plant type from the kind of morning glories ( Ipomoea ) from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). The species is spread pantropically .

description

Ipomoea mauritiana is a hairless climber that is woody at the base and herbaceous at the top . The leaf blades have a circular outline, are usually five to seven times (occasionally three to nine times) lobed, rarely they are entire. They are 5 to 8 cm in length and are heart-shaped or cut off at the base. The lobes are egg-shaped, tapering towards the front, hairless or covered with isolated trichomes .

The inflorescences are little to much flowering cymes . The sepals are almost leathery, hairless, circular or elliptical, clearly convex and the crown encompassing and 6 to 12 mm long. The crown is reddish-purple to rose-pink in color and 4 to 6 cm long.

The fruits are egg-shaped, 1.2 to 1.4 cm long capsules . The seeds are black and hairy.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 30.

distribution

The species is spread pantropically today and can mostly be found near the sea. It was originally found in Africa and tropical America.

Systematics

Within the genus of morning glories ( Ipomoea ), the species is classified in the series Eriospermum of the section Eriospermum in the subgenus of the same name Eriospermum .
