Ipomoea praecana is a plant type from the genus of Morningglory ( Ipomoea ) from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). The species is common in America .

description

Ipomoea praecana is a vigorous, woody climber . Their stems are thick and thickly tomentose with whitish hairs. The leaves are short stalked , the leaf blades are almost circular to broadly ovate and have a length of 7 to 20 cm. At the top they are rounded to pointed, the base is weakly heart-shaped. Both leaf surfaces are densely tomentose whitish hairy.

The inflorescences consist of three to five flowers , the inflorescence stalks are the same length or shorter than the leaf stalks . The flower stalks have a length of 5 to 10 cm. The sepals are 18 to 25 mm long, elliptical or oval, blunt and with dense tomentose whitish hair on the outside; the inside is almost hairless. The crown is colored white, 6 to 13 cm long and has sparsely to densely tomentose hair on the outside. The coronet is 6 to 10 cm wide.

distribution

The species is common in southern Mexico , Guatemala , Honduras and Nicaragua . It grows there in dry thickets and forests at altitudes between 300 and 700 m.
