Irana Rusta

Irana Rusta (born July 23, 1954 in Moscow ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Irana Rusta graduated from high school in East Berlin and then studied German and Slavic studies at the Humboldt University . From 1975 to 1980 she worked at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR . In 1980 she received her doctorate as Dr. phil. From 1980 to 1990 she worked as a freelance editor and translator.

In the course of the change in the GDR in 1989, Rusta joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP). In the first free East Berlin election in 1990 , she was elected to the Berlin city council. On May 30, 1990, the Schwierzina magistrate was formed, and Rusta became city councilor for culture until the new - all of Berlin - Diepgen III Senate was formed in January 1991. From 1991 to 2001 she was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives .
