Irene Bereuter

Irene Bereuter (born September 28, 1950 in Alberschwende ; born Irene Gmeiner ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. From 1994 to 2004, Bereuter was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

Live and act

Irene Bereuter was born on September 28, 1950 as the daughter of farmer Josef Gmeiner and his wife Othilia in the Bregenzerwald community of Alberschwende. After primary school in Alberschwende, she attended the technical college for business professions in Bregenz-Marienberg. Then in 1968 she became a dental assistant at the dentist Ernst Thurnher in Dornbirn. On April 26, 1971 Irene Gmeiner married the Alberschwender farmer Armin Bereuter and together with him took over the management of his farm. They have five children together.

Around 1975 Irene Bereuter joined the women's movement and the Bauernbund , two sub-organizations of the Austrian People's Party . After she had initially been involved mainly within these sub-organizations at community level, Irene Bereuter was elected as a substitute member of the community council in the 1990 municipal council election in her home parish Alberschwende.

On November 23, 1994, Irene Bereuter was appointed candidate for Herbert Sausgruber , who rose as governor in the Vorarlberg state government , to the Vorarlberg state parliament in the Bregenz electoral district . After the state elections in Vorarlberg in 1999 on October 20, she took up a state parliament mandate for the state councilor Hans-Peter Bischof . After she had been deputy chairwoman of the ÖVP state parliament club from 1997 to 2004 during her active time as a member of the state parliament, Irene Bereuter left the Vorarlberg state parliament after the state elections on September 19, 2004 .
