Irene Ferchl

Irene Ferchl (* 1954 in Friedrichshafen ) is a German writer , publicist and cultural journalist .

Life

Irene Ferchl came to Stuttgart in 1972 and studied German, history and communication studies there. Since 1987 she has been a freelancer in the features section of the Stuttgarter Zeitung , and from 1985 to 1995 she was correspondent for the Börsenblatt for the German book trade. In 1993 Irene Ferchl founded the literature journal for Baden-Württemberg , of which she was the publisher and editor-in-chief until 2019.

In addition to books, she has published numerous essays on literature, art and cultural history. Since 1986 she has been developing staged readings and literary-musical stage programs with actors and musicians, and she has also designed and organized several literary projects for cities, the Stuttgart region and the state of Baden-Württemberg. She has been organizing literary and theater events for the city of Backnang since 2013. She looks after the office of the Mörike Society and works as an editor for Schwäbische Heimat , the regional journal of the Swabian Heimatbund in Stuttgart. She is a member of the PEN Center Germany .
