Iris von Arnim

Iris von Arnim (born January 25, 1945 in Berbisdorf , Silesia ) is a German fashion designer .

Life

In the early 1970s, Iris von Arnim started knitting in hospital after a serious car accident. The pastime turned into a business idea. In 1976 she moved from Munich to Hamburg and opened a boutique. In 1979 their son Valentin was born. In the same year von Arnim showed her collection for the first time at the Igedo in Düsseldorf. The beginning of the 1980s, they enriched the German knitting market with marquetry and color combinations and was one of the first designers who cashmere brought to Germany. That is why she was also referred to in the press as the “Cashmere Queen”. In the early 1990s, she supplemented her knitwear collection with thematically coordinated clothing.

It supplies around 200 customers worldwide, has production in Italy and its own stores in Munich, Düsseldorf and Kampen, Sylt . The designer lives in Hamburg. She is the chairwoman of the jury for the Apolda European Design Award .

At the beginning of 2006, Valentin von Arnim, her son, joined the company. He has been managing director since 2009 and heads the operational business.

In 2010 Iris von Arnim and Claudia Schiffer founded a partnership for the development of the Claudia Schiffer Cashmere collection. Schiffer took over the creative management, von Arnim took over the product development, production and sales. The two partners worked together successfully for two seasons.

In April 2011, von Arnim was awarded the Order of Merit of the Free State of Thuringia for her engagement in the jury of the Apolda European Design Award and thus for the Apolda region .

In November 2012, Iris von Arnim opened a store in Munich, which is located in the center on Amiraplatz . In June 2013, the store opened and enlarged in Kampen on Sylt, which has existed since the end of the 1990s.

Iris von Arnim has been running an online shop since July 2013.

In August 2013 the designer presented the UOMO men's collection for the first time . In the meantime, a new collection appears every six months, which includes pullovers and cardigans as well as outerwear and accessories.

On June 10, 2015, Iris von Arnim opened a store on Königsallee in Düsseldorf.
